• I grew up in two of New Hampshire's more picturesque towns: Francestown and Peterborough. In Francestown, houses built after 1900 are "new." My house was built in 1787. When I was 14, my family moved twelve miles to Peterborough. This town boasts of being the inspiration for Thornton Wilder's "Our Town," as well as having the world's oldest free public library. I graduated from the high school in Peterborough in 1972 (OK, now you know how old I am!). Although I have lived more than half of my life away from New Hampshire, I still hold this state dear to my heart.

• Over the years my studies and work have led me to many parts of the country. I have lived in Florida, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Indiana, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Ohio, and Illinois.

• It has been my good fortune to have the opportunity to travel to a number of places. Up to this point, I have visited these countries: Russia, Austria, Germany, England, Spain, Italy, Greece, Israel, France, Monoco, Switzerland, Holland, Bermuda, and Canada. I have written more about these experiences in the Foreign Destinations section of my Travel Information resource page. I love to travel, and hope that my list of countries will continue to grow. Of course, I would also like to return to the places I have been--especially Austria, for its beauty, and Russia, where I have a number of friends.

• My wife Denise is from a small town in southwestern New York called Panama. We met in college five weeks before graduation! A year later, on June 23, 1979, we were married. We are the very proud parents of our son, Travis, who was born January 26, 1988 in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
