I like dogs,
cats,my husband, my family,my friends,students, writing,reading, laughter,walking, computers sometimes, cameras sometimes, Jane Austen, Julia Alvarez, "Some Like It Hot," "Singing in the Rain," Mozart, Tia Shawnte (native American singer),and rhubard custard pie.

I attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and earned a degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. I have a master's degree in film and television from UCLA,where I also did doctoral work; a multiple subjects teaching credential from the University of California, Riverside: and a master of fine arts degree in creative writing from Goddard College in Plainfield, Vt.

I've worked as a reporter and/or editor at newspapers and magazines in Oshkosh, Wis.; Racine, Wis.; Edmonton, Alta., Canada; Thunder Bay, Ont., Canada; Evansville, Ind.; Whittier, Calif.; San Bernardino, Calif.; Riverside, Calif.; and Los Angeles.I've worked everywhere from the Spruce Grove Star (Edmonton, Alta.) to the Los Angeles Times. It was fun.I've also worked as a maid, waitress, secretary, public relations specialist, fourth grade teacher in an urban school, human resource specialist, and movie script reader. My husband and I owned a restaurant in Wisconsin. Some of that was fun.


My work also has been published or is forthcoming
in the Baltimore Sun, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Community College Journalist, Quill,Texas Books in Review, Southwestern American Literature, and Clockworks Magazine.
