- My general area of interest includes parks and
recreation including history/philosophy of recreation & leisure,
recreation evaluation & research, computer applications in
recreation, parks & tourism, recreation programming & leadership,
recreation administration & management and trends in recreation &
leisure. Within this general area I am most interested in
natural resource recreation, outdoor recreation, park management,
forest recreation, nature-based tourism, ecotourism and other forms
of alternative tourism such as heritage tourism, agri-tourism, edu-tourism,
geo-tourism
and sustainable tourism. Also, I have interests and experience
in teaching more advanced and focused in areas such as water-based
recreation, coastal recreation/tourism development &
management, recreation ecology, behavioral aspects of natural
resource recreation, spatial aspects of leisure/recreation & tourism
geographies and geographic information systems in parks & recreation
management. Through my educational background and practical
work in the areas above I have gained experiences and skills that
allow me to teach general courses for park, recreation, tourism and
sport majors in statistics & evaluation procedures, research methods
& program evaluation, using specialized statistical software
(quantitative & qualitative), and GIS software.
