Spring Owl Prowl
Date
Location: Mingo Creek Park (Washington County Parks & Recreation)
Details:
Join us for a fun & exciting hike by the light of the moon, listen for owls
& other night critters. Dress for the weather and bring a
flashlight or headlamp. After the hike we will have a campfire, hot
dogs, snacks & hot chocolate.
Driving directions to Mingo Creek Park: Take PA Turnpike Rt. 43 to Rt. 136 (Ginger Hill),
turn LEFT & head west towards Washington
(not towards Monongahela). In the little "town" of Ginger Hill Rt. 917
will intersect with Rt. 136, stay on Rt. 136, there is a small sign for Mingo
Creek Park. After you leave Ginger Hill make the second RIGHT turn into the park
on Chapel Hill Road at the church. It is VERY easy to miss this turn so go slowly and
watch for it. There is a sign for the park but it is hard to see, the
church is pretty easy to see but not until you are very close to the turn. At
the bottom of the hill go over Mingo Creek on the bridge turn LEFT. Soon
after the turn, you will pass the off leash dog area on the right and a
parking lot on the left continue on less than 1/4 mile. We will
meet in the second parking lot on the left side of the road just next to the
pavilion (Pavilion #5) across from the Park Office before the Ebenezer
Covered Bridge along the Mingo Creek Park Road. (Summary: 15.3 miles takes
approx. 20-30 minutes). To download a copy of the park map,
