Exploring Technology Systems

Technology Systems is a middle school course based on the Standards for Technological Literacy (STL). The goal of this course is to expose students to a new way of organizing their thinking about technological devices. By looking at technological devices from a systems perspective, many complex systems can be broken down into sub-systems, and eventually to the individual part level.  In doing so, much of the “magic” and mystery can be removed and a better understanding of how these systems actually work can be developed. This session will provide attendees an insight into the rationale for teaching Technology Systems, as well as a hands-on overview of the course curriculum.
